Translation: I have equipped myself with a ridiculous number of technical gadgets as I adjust to life 2.0.

WIN - I now have a Cabin Pressure alarm clock with roughly 300 randomly rotating snippets - and I've only got properly through Ipswich. I am saving the pleasure of the next episode until after I have conquered some writing goals.

Can anyone point me to a good tutorial which will help me get started in learning how to navigate Photoshop? The Mac I am currently working on (not part of the revolution, it is my workhorse and rather ancient) has a bewildering array of Adobe things which includes Photoshop CS5.1 and I'm tentatively circling the notion of a Sherlock-centric deck of cards.

Tricorders on stun and don't aim for the guy in red.

Right, so before I make a complete arse of myself by offering up some Cabin Pressure ring tones on the actual comm, here's what I've done so far. You guys are my test audience. This media fire site seems to want to open an extra window when you download something but I just clicked on the green download buttons and it worked fine for me.

I tended toward leaving the laughter at the end in as a spacer since I have no clue how to insert silence at the beginning and end, but I wonder how the laughter will sound on a phone's speaker. I plan on sending them to my phone tomorrow to find out. I find it annoying when it's just a phrase which then repeats quickly over and over so I didn't do a lot of those really short ones.

Sigh.

Since I so triumphantly conquered google photos (days or hours ago?) they have changed it all. Therefore I cannot share with any of you the proof that I could have chosen an OBGYN named Fabio as my pcp.

The project is now taking up a ridiculous amount of time and effort.

Last line from a nice, rambly email from [livejournal.com profile] quarryquest: I am working on a 'how to' for Picasa and photos for you.

I am sad, people, sadly lacking in skillz - but I am at least laughing about it. :-)

ETA - I have now been properly tutorialised. :-)

I refuse to use photobucket for one second longer. I haven't investigated the alternatives yet, but this is simply not negotiable.

I swear to all of you that at some point my ROM entry looked right and the entirety of every picture could be seen, but at the moment most of them are being cut off and they're appearing on AO3 at their original size though I very carefully re-sized them on pb.

I am absolutely enraged - bizarrely, for once my instinctive choice is an available mood.

I honestly have to stop not watching Daily/Colbert, but they are on almost every day, and that is so much of my time...and now that I type it I'm thinking how little of my time it actually is...an hour a day? - and I'm feeling so very - where the heck does my time go - and then on my screen Colbert starts to talk about Mitt Romney - and my usual lunchtime google search for MSNBC this week shoots the MSNBC politics page to the top of the results rather than the more general news (I'm here for the entertainment section, guys) page I'm used to. And he's funny - Colbert - he really is, but he's still talking about politics - just like everyone else - talking about politics every second of every day, years before I care about any of it.

I should be in bed, but Colbert caught my eye and now I'm rambling, so special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] killerweasel (THANK YOU!) for staying up with me and giving me super wonderful it support:

23:33 impulsere gotcha. let's see if dragging stuff about does anything.
...
23:35 impulsere oh. so i pull the first in and it knows there is another?
23:35 kweasel yeah it'll glue them together
23:35 kweasel or something
23:36 impulsere this is very reassuring of you - technologically speaking...
23:36 kweasel lol
23:37 impulsere I think it actually worked...

Oh, and I'm catching up with Graham Norton and realizing that I should really keep up with him in real time because the commercials tell me what is on BBCA - I want to watch Twenty Twelve - but BBCA is no longer airing it! At least, not at the moment. Can anyone weigh in? Is it as good as it seems?

Also, Copper seems to be the next big thing coming to BBCA - at least per tonight's commercials. How do you guys feel about that?

...

I just got confused, because this is supposed to be New York? And realizing that, I rethought what I thought I'd seen on the commercial - surely this isn't BBCA? But it is...so, how do you Brits feel about this olde tyme New York police procedural? k. I totally value your opinion, and you do much better tv than we do, so, honestly - whatever - just tell me what to watch at this point. I'm also going to watch more Murder Rooms as soon as I can manage it.

OK - to be fair, Colbert is now asking a musician if he would give up sex or music if he had to choose, so he's not all about politics - it's just that once you start the show, it's hard to FF through just the politics parts...

Seriously, I cannot figure this out, and there is now an increasing number of randomly named mood themes accumulating and I cannot take a screen shot to prove that I am not insane and the computer is spitting out marshmallow unicorns along with puppies and rainbows again! And nobody believes me!!!

*fails miserably at keeping it together*

I think I need to write something instead of fooling around with this.

ETA - Predictably, I was not able to let this go.

I have now figured out how to get into the individual themes I've uploaded. This is both good and frustrating. Some of the image addresses seem to have had their .gif or just the f left off - and why the heck did the thingymabob tell me they'd been uploaded successfully if they - you know - hadn't? Others seem to be just mysteriously wrong and I'm having only spotty luck copy/pasting and replacing the mood name. This is really ridiculous - completely and utterly.

Also - why did the one theme work out fine while the other caused the computer to start spitting marshmallow unicorns at me? I have nothing against the theme which works, and honestly I'm growing fonder of it by the second, but I just sort of like the borders on the other one and my original lofty goal was to combine the two after I'd done a bit of comparison.

But now - it's a THING - and I have to FIX IT. sigh. At least I'm able to be aggravated, though really I'm more tired, but I'm not willing to give in to that quite yet.

Editing again in an effort to keep from spamming 'yall. Tactical error? I deleted all the problem attempts and tried to start over, but this new one doesn't want to work at all...so I'm giving it a moment in case this is just a photobucket delay. I'm now sitting next to a table of half a dozen middle-aged men discussing Project Runway. Have I mentioned lately that I love my neighborhood? :-)

Edited yet again to say - I give up.
