How do we feel about putting a full/double mattress on a twin frame?  I realize it may look a bit odd, but if I center it and have a box spring I'm not going to actually end up being tipped onto the floor am I?  It seems like it's doable, doesn't it?  Because I have absolutely fallen in love with these but I'd quite like to have the slightly larger mattress.

I think it'd probably end up being too unstable, but I wonder if you overlapped the center squares (so instead of two squares across, you have three), if it'd be about the same size as a double, or at least not so out of whack that you'd risk rolling over at night and tipping yourself out of bed?

Hm. So sort of make an X or a cross with two twin frames?

I think it would be too unstable as well - the frame is gorgeous, but you can buy wrought iron frames new at this site and they ship free. I've been coveting one myself for a long time :-)

I would worry about being tipped out. A double bed is definitely larger than a twin, and people do move around while they sleep.

I think two twins together makes a king, though. So you could put the headboards side by side, as shown, and then just go for the king-sized mattress.

I have Perils of Pauline luck and would repeatedly end up on the floor, so I vote no.

Not exactly, more like keep them in a line still, but overlap the two center bits.

Like this:

____________
____________

(Except with one of those lines shoved over a bit - LJ won't let the spacing I'm putting in stay there.)

They sell things like this. Not that you would necessarily ever want to separate the twins, but this would be a more solid way to use twin frames and a king mattress. Probably not great for cuddling in the middle.
