Hmm. I may have read that book. It amazes me sometimes how many Beauty and the Beast stories there are out there.
The costumes from the musical look charming, and I'm sure everyone involved had a good time.
But I wonder if the genders were reversed, would people make a romance of it? Would Disney do a largely upbeat musical of a monster who captured a man and attempted to instigate Stockholm syndrome? Even under more benign circumstances, attempting to change a person through the power of one's love can result in heartbreak for both sides. So the romance of the story feels odd to me, something much more suited for a darker tale.
