Sherlock has taken over my brain. I possibly need Mycroft to rescue me.

Go read this.  Right now.  Shoo.

I attempted to kick-start my brain on Saturday and seem to have had a delayed reaction which caused me to spend Sunday in a bit of a daze.  This morning has continued apace as I have had an idea which I absolutely refuse to write.  So here you go, internet, have fun.  Sherlock: Choose Your Own Adventure.  Someone else write this because I am absolutely not going to do so.  Both feet are firmly down on this issue.  It is distinctly possible that the Choose Your Own Adventure books are an entirely american phenomenon, so there may be a lot fewer takers for this scenario than say, the entirety of the Sherlock fandom community.  Meanwhile I'm off and running on a new fic born almost completely of various prompts on the kink meme prompt thread.  I have so much love for this thing, everyone seems to be playing happily despite the fact that there are approximately eleventy million prompts involved.  Also, so far no one has complained that neither of my fills has involved any sort of actual kink or sex whatsoever.  And there are gen prompts on it!  Even the gen authors/readers go there to play.

I enjoy a lot of the J/S I read, yes, but Epic BFF is my preferred reading of ACD canon and the new series. Not all profound friendships are based on or lead to sexual attraction. My best friend has been my best friend for 30 years and I've never wanted to shag her. To be fair, she hasn't killed anyone for me yet, either.

I was reading a little bit of fic last night and I think I pinned it. The smut, once you're really launched into it, is just smut. In most cases - and granted there are talented writers out there for whom this isn't the case - but in the majority of stories you have two people having sex, and it could be anyone having sex. When I'm reading about John and Sherlock running around being awesome and giggling at crime scenes it's John and Sherlock. I enjoy the characters, which is why I enjoy the show, and why I'm reading the fic in the first place.

Your fic Love Potions is adorably J/S because it has the character beats along with the J/S.

Ah, that's it. I have no objection to porn, per se, but unless a sex scene involves the characters being, well, as in character as they can be, it gets dull. It could be anybody. Even in my regular, published fiction, I don't do sex scenes very often - only if such a scene will reveal something about the characters or their relationship. In those circs, porn that does not serve the plot is dull.

There's some very sexy porn out there, but I don't think I can write it. I'm really glad you liked Love Potions though!
