I've started up Foyle's War and been rewarded with both David Tennant and Roger Allam all in the first series. :-) Oooo... plus Amanda Root in the next episode.
Oh, good! I was a bit worried because I'd (unwisely) skimmed the wikipedia entry and was thinking the later bits might prove - well, let's call it - less planned out due to network interference...
I think I'm currently leaning toward short but complete series as opposed to seasons which keep on coming...and deteriorating in quality, losing good actors, etc...
Why, so there is! Fabulous. :-) It took me two scenes to pick up on why Mr Allam's voice was itching at me, I'm just that terrible at picking out actors when I'm not expecting them to be there.
It's actually sort of stressful for me because I'm terrible at recognizing actors. Whenever I manage to get one, I then remember I'm supposed to be on the lookout for others and I get all jittery - who's that? do I know who that is? wikipedia, I need wikipedia! :-P
He's not a regular, but the regulars are equally wonderful and I can so far say the first and second series are fabulous and well worth watching. I'm watching it streaming on Netflix if that's an option for you. :-)
Did you also get the Sherlock Holmes link? The whole Anthony Horowitz as creator/writer, who also happens to be the only writer to get official recognition/authorisation from ACD's estate to write a Holmes novel? (For his 2011 novel The House of Silk)
Also, I love Honeysuckle Weeks. There's something of the young Hayley Mills about her, not least in her being another child actress who managed the difficult transition to adult actress. :D

Date: 2013-03-12 01:12 am (UTC)Miss Weeks is indeed very good as Sam. I haven't seen her in anything else, but I'm adoring her in this.
