Well of course she has an awesome best friend. What lovely Victorian lady doesn't? And if her particular best friend just happens to have a literary bent, who am I to write in a different direction?
Besides, in last week's story - Bohemia - Mrs Watson was set to give notice to the maid who so negligently scraped up Dr Watson's boots, so surely by now she has engaged someone new - a young woman with a lively glint in her eye perhaps?
And I am fairly sure that while Watson would never deign to pick up a Ladies' Periodical (gasp!), Holmes might just follow this particular Adventuress with great interest. :-)
