Really well done. I like the paired stories, the way they show how the relationships develop over five years, and how they stay the same. I am particularly intrigued by the idea of Sherlock stealing a child's birthday party!

One tiny nitpick, though . . . violin strings are usually made of metal these days. You can still find gut strings, but they're really only used for instruments in certain types of ensembles playing a particular range of music.
