ETA - Hm.  This was meant to decorate your friends pages, but it just ended up entertaining them.  Note to self, just because fonts paste properly into visual editor, they do not actually post properly.

Well, okay, well there’s, uh, there’s sixteen seats, so say two to a seat –

They’re good friends, these otters?

Let’s hope so. And one in each overhead compartment.

Always remembering to open them with care, because otters may have shifted during the flight.

And one under each seat?

Yes, good thinking!

But that’s where the lifejackets are.

That’s all right: otters can swim. Now, how many in the galley?

Um, four on the floor, two on the worktops? Well, it depends – are we carrying Carolyn and Arthur?

To wait on the otters? I think that would be an indulgence, frankly. I think we’d be better off replacing them with more otters.

So thirty-two in the seats, sixteen in the overhead lockers, sixteen under the seats, six in the galley … fifteen in the hold?

Oh, twenty easily, and six or seven in the aisle.

Call it seven.

So that’s what? Ninety-seven – and three in the flight deck! A hundred!

Brilliant!

No. Not in the flight deck.

Hypothetically.

I don’t care how hypothetical it is, I’m not flying with a live otter in the flight deck!

I don’t see why not. Historically, very few hijackings have been carried out by otters.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think the Civil Aviation Authority would be too keen on the idea.

To be quite honest with you, Captain, I don’t think there’s a whole lot about this plane full of unsupervised otters the CAA is going to love.

Excerpt from Ottery St Mary which was written by John Finnemore.

That might be my favorite episode so far. (I haven't heard all of s3, and I've only heard of of s4.)

Ottery St Mary is my favorite episode - though I admit Rotterdam might actually be funnier. :-)

Are even they joining in the otterly mad amphibious mammal references as well??

And I thought I was bad mentioning Otters turning up on the Taff in Bute park.

More snow expected here tomorrow, and I have a new camera (called Fred) who ma possibly be taking photographs of it.

Molly Hamster in not amused, even if she's got the heater on in her room (I am with [livejournal.com profile] garienos for the weekend.

I've no idea if the otter reference is relevant. Finnemore has referenced Benedict in rl directly more than once on script, but I'm not sure he's knowledgeable of actual fandom weirdness...

Oh, so when did Ben get a callout in the script.

As I was going to sleep last night I also had a nasty thought about Roger Allam turning up as a baddie in a Sherlock. Charles Augustus Milverton anyone? (I keep banging on about 'The Dying Detective' but I do think that is what we might get next time, seriously.

Ha. Well, the two most egregious instances of this are:
1.The episode Paris is entirely centred around Martin’s (Benedict’s character) investigating the all-too-expected theft of a bottle of 25 year-old Talisker whisky. Arthur (John Finnemore’s character) at one point declares Martin to be Miss Marple. In this first instance Martin hotly denies being said detective. When Arthur later declares that Douglas (Roger Allam’s character) is instead Miss Marple, Martin’s response is to insist that no, he is Miss Marple! The episode also features this exchange: MARTIN: I know! But the thing is, we’ve taken away all the things that can possibly have happened, so I suppose the only thing that’s left, even though it seems really weird, must be the thing that did happen, in fact. DOUGLAS: Snappily put.
2.Benedict missed a taping due to having laryngitis and the beginning of the episode (by all rights he should have missed out on two but they finagled a bit) in which Martin is played by someone else begins with the revelation that their trip to Newcastle has been prompted by a pilot being taken ill and therefore leaving some crew members stranded. Arthur then observes that MJN has only two pilots, and asks what they would do if one of them went sick. Carolyn (Stephanie Cole’s character) declares that they wouldn’t dare! Arthur pushes, but what if they did? Carolyn answers that she’s sure they’d think of something – and in walks ‘Martin’. Arthur tells him he’s looking really well and asks Douglas if he agrees. Douglas doesn’t think he looks especially well, but just the same as always. :-)
There is also an instance where they’re play a game wherein the goal is to find books which sound more interesting when you knock off the final letter of the title eg. Three Men in a Boa and Far from the Madding Crow (My own contribution is Jurassic Par). Martin isn’t terribly good at this game and one of his contributions is to take the ‘s’ off the end and offer up The Hound of the Baskerville, but this is in one of the earlier episodes and I’m not sure if this was on purpose or just a coincidence.

This is actually my favouritest episode ever and this ties closely with Douglas singing at Caroline as my favourite part of the show. Thank you my dear, you've brightened up my evening :)

I am pleased to oblige, though I am unsure if my lovely fonts have translated or not. They seem to be present at some times but not others...but random Cabin Pressure is always welcome so I am unapologetic for putting it out there even if it is just oddly formatted. :-)

Doesn't Martin have a line somewhere about their being better off replacing Arthur with an otter all the time?

Also, LOVE IT! One of my favorite eps!

Martin does suggest they'd be better off with an otter. :-) It really is the best episode. Three men and a flying piano plus Carolyn taunting Herc with a sheep assassin squad...

I am sporfling forever at "unsupervised otters."

Well sure, because they decided to offload the cabin crew to allow room for more otters! It's pure wonderfulness, is Cabin Pressure.
