Lets see if I can find some recs... I'm usually not much of an ACD fic reader, but I've read some good ones, especially over at [livejournal.com profile] holmestice.

From the 2011 round of [livejournal.com profile] holmestice I rec'ed The Relevance of Goodness and A Very Ordinary Man. You can read more comments about them on my Holmestice Rec post.. I'm sure there were fabulous ACD fics in later rounds as well, but I don't remember a specific favourite...

Otherwise (trying very hard to remember), I'm a fan both of [livejournal.com profile] methylviolet10b's and [livejournal.com profile] garonne's ACD writing. They both write with slashy undertones (or sometimes explicitly), though, so I don't know what's your take on that. But I found it very hard to find gen ACD fics - even harder than finding gen fics in the BBC version! [livejournal.com profile] methylviolet10b is a very prolific writer and she writes lots and lots of drabbles, too, so I can't really recommend any of her fics specifically. Just try any of them. :-) From [livejournal.com profile] garonne, I'll recommend one of her few gen fics: On Ilkley Moor, a spooky casefic that manages to be supernatural and scientific at the same time.

If I think some more, maybe I can come up with more recs. :-)

(Also *cough* allow me one self-rec: Go and Catch a Falling Star was written for [livejournal.com profile] holmestice, too, and is my attempt at a magical realism style casefic (well, kind of). *cough* Self-rec over.)
