Even leaving aside Benedict Cumberbatches exemplary performances in both roles, this production of Frankenstein is riveting for anyone who loves theatre, or loves SF/Mary Shelley and is drawn to stories about the human condition. Really, I would have loved to have seen this live (and I've read a review which indicates some of the production was toned down for a film version). THe stage show ended ages ago, so this is the filmed version (or versions - they filmed both actors in each of the roles.)

Seeing both versions was fantastic too, because each actor brought out different things in the script, in the relationship of their characters with the others in the play. MIller's version achieved more lightness, BC was very dark. Both were brilliant.

They don't have the rights to release it on DVD, which is a terrible shame. If they ever get that sorted, I'll be buying both versions.
