I think an actual bullet wound would be pretty horrific and smash up bone as well as muscle. Buckshot on the other hand... you'd need to check facts on this, but if it's a glancing kind of shot (say, most of the shot missed but he caught the edge of the spray) then there'd be lots of little bits to tweeze out to begin with. He'd probably need x-rays later to make sure they got it all, but in the meantime, I think John might quite enjoy: *tweeze* OUCH *tweeze* OUCH *tweeze* OUCH FUCKING OUCH. "NEver mind, I think there are only twenty or so to go." ANd then plunge it all in antiseptic which will STING LIKE BUGGERY. Nothing there to conflict with the Hippocratic Oath. Or maybe a little. But, even making the patient as comfortable as possible, there will be ouchies, and John is only human. Maybe he can tweeze while they wait for the ambulance.
Having said all that, I'm sure there'll be a lot of blood and pain and significant discomfort for Simon. He'll want to be sure his tendons and muscles aren't severely injured, and than no bones have been chipped or smashed.
As for tomorrow: go to the museum! Take a book as well. ANd a notepad! And possibly fudge! See an exhibition, sit in the cafe and read, or find a lawn to lie on and eat fudge while you make story notes. Damnation, I want to spend the day with you doing that stuff.
