I don't write so I know very little about creating fiction but I'm not surprised that Gold/Rumpel is a difficult character to balance properly. He is difficult character to get a handle on in discussions too!
Thank you for the rec to that story. I don't read much on ff.net but that was beautiful. So far what she has written - that is how I see Gold and Regina. Manipulative, controlling, intelligent and oh so dangerous.
