A fun thing for Sherlock at cookery classes, if he went to them, would the stuff he knows already (or perhaps learns) about the household foodstuffs that are poisonous. Like rhubarb and eggplant leaves.
I imagine that after Sherlock has fulfilled his 'gift' of doing the shopping once that John will make sure he NEVER DOES IT AGAIN. Because he still doesn't know what to do with the sixteen cans of catfood Sherlock bought because IT WAS ON SPECIAL.
