Re: Mycroft's craft work

Yes, I am epically glad that I learned that about Robert Jordan before beginning his series - and epically angry that I did not before beginning Game of Thrones (grrrrrrrr).

Thank you very much for both loling as well as being concerned at the same time - I was feeling that way myself once I realized how much longer this story was going to be than anything else I had written. I actually totally freaked out about it in a journal post.

I'm feeling pretty good about it just now - I'm approaching 25k words on the first section and have a good grasp of what I have left to fit in. It actually was very very lucky that I wrote the beginning and then the end. If I hadn't this probably would have taken a turn toward the tragic. I think I'll be able to finish and post the first holiday section within the next couple of weeks.

The interludes are definitely limited to twelve at most and I'll post as I finish them, once I know what each of them is and what order they go in, and I'm doing pretty well on this. I have one long one complete and a total of around 5k words. Some of these will probably be short - a definite nod to your concern.

I assure you I'm prompting pretty carefully, and there's no way all of the responses are going to make their way into the story. The attic was the exception - everyone's wonderful suggestions are fantastic to read but they're mostly to see what sparks and make me think thinky thoughts - take your model of the house - I'll fit it in as an aside, but it's not fitting my vision for Mycroft's gadget so it will not in fact become Mycroft's gadget.

I'm also not going to post or pimp any of this anywhere other than my journal until the entire thing is complete. If I do manage to epically fail there's no need to disappoint any more people than I have to.
