While Robert Carlyle is doing a fantastic job on the show, and I like him a lot in general, Rumpel and Belle don't really fire me up. I was absolutely shocked when I found myself writing fic about them. I'm planning on finishing up McKinley's Rose Daughter this weekend and putting up a discussion post in a day or two. I really find it fascinating how many authors come back to this tale again and again to put their own spin on it. Rose daughter has one of the first parallels to Skin Deep wherein Belle is actually doing some work during her time in the Beast's castle.
