We've been rewatching the Granada series recently, as well as rereading the ACD stories, and I've been full of glee and delight at seeing the touchpoints between those and BBC Sherlock. I especially like it in both ACD and Granada when Watson, just every now and then, turns and gently gives Sherlock a metaphorical slap upside the head. He has patience, does our watson, and it's very nearly infinite, but not quite. I do love in the latter seasons of the show, especially, how much was conveyed in just the looks that Brett/Hardwicke gave each other as Holmes/Watson. They spoke volumes, very much like Cumberbatch/Martin. :)
