Your characterisation is fabulous. I was just re-reading the chapter, and was reminded again how much I love Not Anthea's take on the role of the shield, and that whole exchange. And there was an earlier piece about the viola shielding th violin while the parents had their screaming fit, and I just melted with love and compassion for little Mycroft and littler Sherlock in that situation.
