The Daily Mail where? It might be one thing I'd trust the Daily Mail for. :-) Lately I've been using http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck/english_united_kingdom_spell_checker.html and then running the fic past a Brit. (The spell checker has some old fashioned ideas.)

I'm a little ambivalent about using the British spellings, anyway. It's not as though fiction written in America but set in Britain is commonly written with British spellings. And it looks as though the majority of the fan fic readers may actually be American (hey,we're a big country). So for whom are we going out of the way to learn an entirely different system of spelling? I can understand with the vocabulary, but the spelling? Really? Why?
