and anyone who was looking forward to reading it: I will eventually finish the Person of Interest/Bond/Sherlock/Cabin Pressure story.

Right now, however, I need to narrow my focus. I need to finish this Sherlock epic, I need to start this original story now that I've been inspired by an idea, and I need to write my piece for ACD Holmesfest (which is requiring ridiculous research). *nods* This is what I am going to do. I am not going to start or commit to anything else until I have accomplished these three things.

There - there it is in scary typing - and I was once very wisely advised: trust the scary typing.

Trust the scary typing. = Follow through on the scary typing.

Next interlude will be up soon. Dancing is hot on its heels as I am expecting to experience actual English Country Dancing tomorrow.

Guys, on a related note, I am scarily uncoordinated. I did, once upon a time, take ballet and tap, but clearly I didn't do so long enough to benefit and become graceful in any sense of the word. I'm vaguely considering trying to attempt to remedy this. It would also be nice to try and enforce some regular exercise, so what do we think? Yoga? Pilates? Actual dance lessons of some sort? In the end it will have to be something nearby and ridiculously convenient if there is any chance of my following through. Having to commit to a class would also probably help. Thoughts and advice are very welcome.

Actual dance lessons. Tap, for my money. I did both tap and ballet from grade one through high school, and it was a deliberate choice by my parents because they wanted me to be graceful. My dad is 6'8" and his sister is 6' and maybe more, so they were concerned that I could get around without tripping over my feet. What actual dance does, particularly tap, is force you to learn both precise balance and fine, repetitious motor control of your feet. It's teaching your brain to consciously, and then unconsciously, control your movements. I love tap, but aside from that, I almost never, ever even scuff my foot when I'm walking, much less trip.

If you get the choice, definitely go for Broadway style tap and not hip hop. Hope that helps!

I liked Pilates better than yoga, but that was me - my mom likes yoga better. I found that Pilates seemed to be more about strength, and yoga focused more on flexibility. (At least, that's the way it seemed to me.) But they really are very different things, even from instructor to instructor; I'd give them both a try.

From what I've seen of your activities and interests, you much more closely resemble my friends who are into competitive dancing than my friends who are obsessed by yoga. And the dancing looks like more fun.

That does help - immensely. It makes complete sense. I need to make my brain more in tune with my physical self. Now I just need to find the friendliest possible adult tap class in the area. :-) and shoes...

Hm. Interesting. I'm going to have to just randomly try something and see how I like it. I suppose what is really important is finding something I will actually follow through and do as well as enjoy.

Thanks for the advice. :-)

The dancing does look like more fun. I'm flailing around a bit, trying to figure out all the things I should have been doing but haven't been. There are bound to be speed bumps aplenty. I meant to check in and see if I have an email from you but got interrupted by a porn challenge (Yeah, post to follow) so will do so as soon as I finish this story...
