in the course of researching a story continue to amaze me.

They've made violin strings from spider silk. Isn't that awesome? My search was completely unrelated but now I'm tempted to write these in somewhere.

That is just fabulous. I may also have to reference that at some point. I just love research for fics - almost more than writing some of them, occasionally - because you turn up so many fascinating things in the process.

That is really cool. It's got a good sound, I think.

Sherlock has to be coveting those terribly. Can't some nice relation bring him a set and he can play Jean to sleep sometime?

[Oops - French slip. I've been reading about the French dubbers (en Francais "doublage") who actually do a lot of cartoons and video game voices. They look nothing like our people (Sherlock is bald and quite heavily built, their 'John' is tall, skinny, dark and quiet voiced) but their Sherlock IS a musician and sings which explains why he almost sings the word for 'Californian' when they open the taxi in Womanby Street.]

I used to really chafe over having to stop writing in order to research something - but I've definitely started to enjoy it more and more. You can learn the most interesting little facts.

Of course, knowing the difference between strangulation and choking makes for not-so-useful dinner table conversation. Unless you want to remind people that you're eccentric. XD

ETA: Sorry for replying to the above comment instead of the main post! I'm still not quite awake yet, obviously... ^^
