Just a few things. One - our resident woodpecker has very definitely packed his bags and left the neighborhood. I can only recall hearing him once or twice at the very beginning of open window season. This makes me cross. I miss him. Instead I've got a cicada serenading me and I really want to hunt him down and squash him.

Two - British equivalents please - a very easy board game, I've put in Chutes and Ladders as a place holder - also a salary bonus, I would just refer to it as a bonus - same or different?

Three - I am forced to apologize to those of you who responded that romance is BORING when I inquired about romancing Lestrade in the you can imagine 'verse. Due to a very unexpected turn of events it turns out that Not Anthea has become determined to romance Mycroft. There isn't much, just a few sequences, but I honestly love them and think they add nicely to the story as a whole. I'm glad things took the turn they did. :-)

Four - as I mentioned in a couple of individual replies, I've come to my senses and instead of committing to the ACD fest I'm doing [livejournal.com profile] sherlock60 - complete with a Granada watchalong this round! So you'll start to see those posts tomorrow - Gloria Scott! - and likely some blather about Granada along with the rest.

Now, as my prediction of 'before the end of the week' has proven elusive, I am off to try and seduce the Solitary Cyclist into the world of today (oh, btw, 221b_hound, you were right and Violet is extraordinarily BAMF - considering) and make my Bartok expert sound more like he knows what he's talking about without actually plagiarizing anyone.

I think I recall that the British name for checkers is draughts. Not a difficult game at all.

Also, Tuesday's prescheduled event has definitively been rescheduled, so I'm free Tuesday evening.

It's Snakes and Ladders over here not Chutes and Ladders :)

Apologies if you already knew that.

That's exactly why I was asking - I had a suspicion it was different but I wasn't certain. Thanks very much! Though I might end up going with draughts - assuming that's correct - because I may want a more direct comparison to chess.

Violet is fabulous. I've always lived the bit where she turns around and rides back at her stalker.

I know - I couldn't believe it when she did that! The women in ACD stories never get to do stuff like that!

NOt often enough! Although as I recall all the Violets had spine of some kind or another. She's my favourite, though.
