Honestly, this adaptation just goes on and on and on, and it's quite challenging to keep it moving along and engaging. So just for reference, I do not recommend trying to adapt an ACD story into a Sherlock case which John and Sherlock then relate to a third party - it is bleeping difficult. I'm going to have to find something else for Grandmere to demand during the next holiday. Oh, maybe they go geocaching! I have only the vaguest idea of what that would entail...

Oh man. This might actually be a fantastic idea for the next holiday. Let me just register again, for the record, how wonderful you are and how much I appreciate your participation in this fic! I honestly could not have done this without you - Claude and Grandmere are the Holmes family members which make it all work, and I am eternally grateful to you for that! I really hope you enjoy them once all is revealed. I also hope to get a bit further outside the vacuum which is the John and Sherlock show for the second holiday season. As I mentioned in passing, Sandy Arbuthnot will be on the scene, and I expect his penchant for adopting disguises which can fool even his closest acquaintances will be of some use...there are spies and all sorts of things on the loose during our second holiday season...possibly Grandmere had an ulterior motive for taking up geocaching...

In my mental backstory, Grandmere and Claude were junior Maquis members during WWII. They served as couriers because peopled were less likely to suspect children. They might have made SOE contacts...
